The Chrysler 318 engine, a reliable workhorse

The Chrysler "LA" series small block engine had its most popular incarnation in the 318 cubic inch (5.2 liter) variant. This engine replaced the earlier 'A' type polyspherical model in 1967, and continued in use until the new "Magnum" variant replaced it in 1992.

These engines were found in every model, from the compact Valiant and Dart, through the full size and "Medium Standard" C-body Fury and Monaco sedans and wagons. They also served as the base V8 engine in the Dodge truck line for many years.
